What are your business hours and location? I’m located in the wilderness at the foot of Mt. Hood, Sandy, OR. With care and maintenance, you should have long and happy years of use and enjoyment of your pieces.
How do I book an appointment? In most cases, an appointment isn’t necessary, as ordering can take place online. You won’t need to come and pick it up either, so there’s no need to worry about an appointment.
If you are interested in taking classes with me, then please use the contact information to request more information about that either by text message (DM) or email. I sometimes offer classes when there are at least 3 or more people interested in taking a class at the same time.
What are the four types of pottery?
Earthenware: a low-fre, porous and soft textured clay Stoneware: a medium fire, durable and versatile clay body. Ball Clay: Known for its high plasticity (stretchability) and fine particles, it is commonly added to other types of clay for more flexible texture. Porcelain: a high fire, delicate, more fragile type of clay known for its translucence and ability to show colors more vividly.
Is a pottery hobby expensive? It can be, depending upon your level of commitment and consumption. A home studio is the most expensive option because you have to purchase equipment (kiln, potter’s wheel or slab roller) as well as all materials needed for production with clay. An option that is much less expensive is to take a class that gives you materials you can use and supplies to try and make your own discovery with. Another option that is gaining popularity is to go to a studio and “paint your own piece” that you purchase, already fired and ready for glazing. You then leave it to be fired there and return to pick it up when it has been completely fired and is ready for use.
What is pottery called? Pottery is the general term for objects made from clay and hardened by heat, including stoneware, earthenware, and porcelain. Other related terms include “ceramic,” “crockery,” “china,” and “redware.”
What are the 3 S’s of ceramics? “score, slip and smooth.” This refers to how to join and create pieces that have several parts that need to be attached to each other (ex. A teapot) or pieces that have to be connected together in some way.
